Feb. 13: Open Discussion and Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes (1st hour); Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. (2nd hour)
Cats: This Week's Guests and Topics|Carl will focus on Valentine’s Day a day early by focusing the discussion on love.
Carl had the honor and pleasure of a surprise visit by two of the members of Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes! They were in the studio and discussed their careers, preparation for the careers, life with the late, great Harold Melvin and their concert being held tonight for the Paine College fundraiser. His daughter, who is serving as manager for the group, also talked about life as a child of this great leader. Thanks to Ms. Velvet Perry, General Manager of Perry Broadcasting of Augusta, for arranging this interview.
During the second hour, the focus remains on love as Carl hosts Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. and his studio guest, Ms. Britney Dukes. Performing for approximately a decade as part of the hit-making group, the Fifth Dimension, Marilyn and Billy have won Grammy Awards, earned Gold and Platinum, hosted TV shows and more. Their first song as a duo, You Don’t Have to Be A Star (to be in my show), shot through the roof. They now share their powerful story of music, marriage and love for one another and the Lord Jesus Christ as they continue to perform around the world. Gleaning pearls from their most recent CD, The Many Faces of Love, and their new book, Up, Up and Away, How We Found Love, Faith and Lasting Marriage in the Entertainment World, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. will help us prepare to share love on Valentine’s Day and beyond. Be sure to listen on the radio or online throughout the week as Carl features songs from the CD, The Many Faces of Love, leading up to Friday’s interview!
