We shouldn’t miss or dismiss obvious wakeup calls. Using conservative estimates, the latest oil spill has already cost us 4 million gallons of gas as of May 14. That’s the minimum. It’s probably much higher according to other estimates. With a resource that is already relatively scarce, can we afford to keep spilling oil while also choosing not to take significant steps towards incorporating alternative energy sources?
